For over a decade India and China have been touted as the next superpowers. The notion of India as a “rising global power” received broader acknowledgment when then-President Barack Obama, on a visit to India in 2010, said that “India is not just a rising power; India has already risen.” Was this just a rhetorical component of a U.S. strategy to counter a rising China? Obama’s statement for sure attested to the existing acknowledgment of India as a capable and responsible power.

The world is showing this confidence in us, which means they see promise in India. Indian leadership should grab this opportunity and plan the coming decade diligently, aiming for a prominent power status for India. To find a rightful place among the comity of nations, India has to make some tough decisions, quickly.

    I pray for the rise of India and China to bring eastern cultural wisdom for Asian prosperity, using eastern cultural approach in solving various problems in Asia, hand-in-hand with other Asian countries in forming Asian Union like the European Union.

    There is no real democracy if there is a single king in this world. The world needs balancing to lead to democracy. And a balance can be achieved if there is balancing power. So none can be arrogant to others. That is the eastern wisdom based on eastern philosophy and cultural pattern.

    Let US, Russia, China, India, as the balancing power for this world. At least that is better than a single king.

I think you did not read my comment and sent only liking.hummm.i know-my comment on your blog , you have not received because in your column of comment was already overloaded.now i wanted to say that whatever Barak Obama said about India that is one to all right.our India is not rising power but already has become a hope and the promise for other countries .before some years in the world-there are many countries had said why India…now they all said why not India.Because they all see many hopes and promises in India.In present time mostly young Indians are working at high ranked posts in other big and biggest countries as you know.China has become old but show as most powerful country to only remaining his status high and the his Ruler want only to save his position as hard ruler.are you agree or not?plz reply.

    I think India is a rising power but perhaps not quite there yet. The conflicts with China may well see that rise come to fruition as the American empire slides into decline from what I see being played out as they are seemingly intent on destroying their democracy in favour of a socialist ideology.
