In a shocking escalation of violence, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has captured 18 engineers working for Pakistan’s Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) in Dera Ismail Khan, reportedly seizing a significant quantity of uranium from the country’s largest uranium mine.

I had warned about this day in my four years old article:

The article of 2021 is apt more now than it ever was. The race to the trough of self oblivion or being a nuclear threat to all by non state actors is Pakistans contribution to this world…amongst many similar headache level issues. A nation which refuses to develop..Well that’s one problem, and the world may chose to ignore that nation. But a nuclear capable nation is hard to ignore and hence sustained in the hope it turns the corner and develops some sense. However, that seems an unfounded desire. Sandeep has written a very informative article. As always. We wait for a ludlum like thriller with this new episode of stolen uranium. Hope some nations take care of this in a Misssion Impossible type roller coaster.
